Although I do not consider myself to be an avid follower of President Obama, I do believe that America's financial woes are somewhat beyond his control. America has dug and continues to dig itself into a whole of national debt that has absolutely nothing to do with the president's efforts. I am not condoning his lack of efforts but I am also not going to claim him purposeless to America. With the fiscal state that the U.S. is in at this moment there is only so much man is capable of. I believe there is definitely MORE he can be doing but however, in the meantime I am not going to degrade him. He has somewhat fixed various problems but has yet to regulate the U.S. economy and ensure the unemployed the security of jobs and benefits. I do think he spoke too hastily in claiming he would rescue the economy because that is a job that takes more than just mere words. Until then, I hope to see President Obama's words become actions in saving a drowning nation. He has high hopes and well intentions for America but he needs to make that apparent to the needy American people. I cannot say his steps are correct or incorrect, but I can say that our country needs more help than what has been offered.
I feel that President Obama’s steep claims that his stimulus will improve education, provide relief to the unemployed, and create lasting projects are being absolutely disproven by the reality of national conditions. While the government asserts that it has created or salvaged 640,000 jobs with the stimulus money pumped into the economy, a harder look at these allegations reveals their fallacy. For example, the official government-created website meant to track stimulus money reports that 30 jobs were saved in Arizona’s 15th congressional district. Arizona has only 8 congressional districts—the apparent 15th district does not exist. Countless statements on the website show hundreds of millions of dollars being spent in nonexistent congressional districts—so where is this money really going? Even if these mistakes are the result of a simple error in record-keeping, it is clear that the money is not being well-spent. In Iowa, the government claims that more than $10 million was spent to create 39 jobs. This would factor out to a salary of more than $200,000 for each job. Based on this evidence, I have no faith in the steps that the Obama administration is taking toward fixing the American economy. While his ideas may be good in theory, in practice they are dysfunctional, inefficient, and even falsified.
I feel that President Obama is doing his best to actually to fix various issues that we are dealing with today. At some points during the stimulus, he promised the nation that he will make certain changes, but they never happened. Obama is under major stress and he can't promise the United States everything, but he sure can TRY to make some changes. The stimulus did provide more Medicaid health benefits, unemployment checks, food stamps, tax cuts and other reliefs to help the people in need the most. This stimulus isn't going to be successful in just couple days, it's going to take some time, but we all just need to be patient.
President Obama is most definitely not in full blame for our weak economy and our poor financial problems. Our nation has continuously built up a profound debt that will take more than a few actions from the president to pull us out. While I am saying that Obama is not to blame I am not saying that he is doing everything to the best of his ability. I feel like his words need to be put into action in a better way. He talks as if this is a problem that he can surely fix, while we are standing around waiting for a sudden miracle. With time and more great effectively used actions, the president may be able to pull us slightly out of the economic failure we have dug ourselves into. We must give more support to our nation’s leader in order for a fix.
I think that President Obama has done a decent job so far in his presidency. Although he has not kept nearly as many promises as he should have hes no different than any other politician who has only said things just to get elected. im not really a big fan of his bank bail out or his Stimulus package he has brought about but it has seemed to have a few perks and i cant really judge it for another year or so because only about a third of the money has been spent.
President Obama in my opinion cannot be to blame for the mistakes us as a country have made. His stimulus is going to improve many things that need improving, especially education. Things are not fixed over night, and it is ridiculous that some people blame Obama for how the economy is at this time. Yes, there are some flaws in his plan to help fix America, however his stimulus plan is working, just not as quickly as everyone would like it to be helping. It has already been proving to help provide more health benefits, and help those who need it most, I mean he is a Democrat so the wealthy don't necessarily come first. For his plan to reach it's full potential we just have to wait and let it take it's course. President Obama is doing everything he can to hold this country together, and I think he is doing a tremendous job.
The American way of life got us into this mess. With people buying with credit, banks giving out loans irresponsibly the system was bound to crash. However, Mr. Obama has done absolutely nothing right in his attempt to "save the economy." In a recession, the last thing you want to do is continue to spend money, yet that is exactly what Mr. Obama has done. Instead of finding ways to create money and pay down the federal deficit (like I don't know, DRILL OIL), Mr. Obama has increased the federal debt eightfold. His endless programs and stimulus packages are nothing but detrimental and crippling to an already distraught economy. These useless programs all cost money, and instead of putting money back into the consumer and investor pockets, he wants to horde it and decide where it is distributed. In reality, the poor helpless have-nots don't work, aren't "stimulated" at all have a welfare baby and then receive a handout. But lets be honest, Mr. Obama doesn't give two flying hoots about the common man, especially not the poor common man. Mr. Obama is a power hungry leader who is redistributing the wealth in order to gain more power than he already has, and he has already outstepped his bounds. Last point, someone please prove to me that this guy is a citizen.
No I do not think Obama is doing a good job at fixing America's financial woes. Yes it is true that job losses have slowed since he put the stimulus into action, however, not a lot of new jobs have been created. While the stimulus was even trying to be put into action, America was losing 6 million jobs. My generation is not going to have a whole lot of trust for candidates in the future because we cannot trust these people with our money. Obama has spent and taken all of our money to save so few jobs. They will not be able to repay the debt that they owe on this money once they create the jobs. If they ever do. My generation will be so heavily taxed that it will not be worth it. Plus, can we really trust that they will even use that money to repay the debt of the stimulus? Or will that be a lie too? I feel like everyone is being a liar because no one has really been talking about what is going on, which should be no problem if everything was going fine. Obama especially is just repeating that same things over and over, and while yes the job losses are slowing, the debt that is going to come out of this is so much worse. I hope in 2012 we can get someone in there that can really help us create the jobs that we need and stop stealing our money for nothing.
Shyann Loyd: No i do not think oboma is taking the correct steps to fix our economic system at this moment. i believe that he is simply trying to patch over the problems that we are having instead of going straight to the root of the problem. granted that i really dont know exactly how i would go about fixing that problem but it seems to me that all this money is going toward is trying to reassure the people and fix their opinions on the subject rather than fix the econimic problemitself. I think that obama may have taken too much of the situation into his hands rather than taking our problems and solvong them on at a time! only time can tell though.
I believe that America has already dug itself into a whole that is going to be difficult to get out of. Though President Obama did not cause this mess, I don't think he is doing very much to help out the situation. He is spending more money than we have, which in turn is putting us deeper into debt. Obama thinks he can "Save America" but I'm not so sure his actions are saving us. I'm not saying he is a bad president, I'm just not sure he thinks about what he promises or does before doing/saying them.
I think that President Obama has not done a decent job in helping our economy. He hasn't done any major, significant changes so far, even though he constantly states that he will chande America. In my opinion, I think that Obama is just not really sure of what he is doing and tends to not keep his promises to the American people. He keeps repeating the same things over and over. Sure he says he will change America, but it his his actions that we need for change, not just words.
Since the election, Obama has not been a guy that I would follow. But at the same time, I cannot believe that he is to blame for how our economy has ended up. The economy rises and falls, and when he became President, the economy was not at its highest point. Obama has made great plans to fix our economy, and not too much has been done. He needs to carry out his actions and grand plans instead of just saying what he is going to do, and then failing to do it. America needs change now, and Obama seems to be doing nothing. The stimulus plan he created was a great idea that seems to be too good to be true. We need help with the economy now!
I believe Obama has good intentions, but has made mediocre improvements to our country, which obviously needs a lot of help. I feel the Obama administration shouldn't be spending so much money on programs that help only a small group of Americans. Our country is already in a severe debt and we don't need to be spending millions of dollars on bills/programs that aren't really showing any results. I think Obama is a lot of talk and not enough action is being taken to solve our economic problems. I sometimes feel that Obama is more of a celebrity that just likes to talk about what he will do, rather than actually doing it. Instead of appearing on TV every two seconds and talking just to make people feel better, I think he needs to re-evaluate his plans for our economy, take more action, and follow through with what he says he'll do. So far I haven't really seen Obama "rebuild" our country the way he describes it. I know that before he took office we already had debt and a long list of other issues, but isn't it about time that someone figures out a solution and we see some results? We can't afford to have a president that just looks good on TV. I think a lot of people initially liked the idea of Obama being president, but now they are seeing just how little he has done with the significant amount of time he has been in office. Even though I am disappointed in how he has tried to fix our country's problems, I wish him luck and hope he can find a solution to some of our problems.
I feel that Obama initially started out trying to do everything in his power to fix the current problems of our nation. To me he seemed more up to date on certain issues than other politicians at the time whenever debates were held. However, I noticed after awhile that he was just repeating himself and not actually doing anything to change things. I feel that he just made way too many promises that he couldn't keep and he shouldn't have been so misleading. Personally, I think all of this pressure would make a person want to work harder to fix problems that are so significant in today's society. It just doesn't make sense to me that even more money is being taken away from things such as school funding when everytime I turn on the tv, he is always doing something for more publicity. To me it seems that Obama doesn't quite have his priorities straight anymore. Sometimes it seems like he is more of a celebrity than a president. Who knows if we will ever truly get rid of all the debt that exists, but I think that if he puts more focus towards a better solution, things will start to improve. I think Obama has to do something now if he wants to have the support of the people before they lose faith in his abilities as a leader.
Bailey maunders I believe that this econmaic crisis will be hard to fix. No one person can do it alone. It will take a long time to get us back on track. I don't think Obama is doing what he should be. i think he is focusing on smaller things rather than the big problem. He seems like he is just throwing things out to try and make the people happy and think he is helping.does he reallly understand what has happend? I think he is not very qualified for his position as president. I don't really think he is helping at all and i don't think he will be able to get us out of this slump..ande stay out. Although i still have hope i mean thats all we can do is hope, right?
Personally I try to stay an arms length away from topics concerning Mr. President Obama. There is a saying that you do not talk about politics or religion with guests, and lately I have come to see the truth in that statement. Anything concerning our dear president has cause turmoil in the debate world. Although concerning Presidents Obama’s 862 BILLION dollar stimulus plan, in my opinion he is in over his head. The man proclaimed ‘Change’ from the beginning of his campaign and yet I see no ‘Change’ other then lack of school funding, job decrease and economic loss. America in my opinion is slowly getting better now yes, but none in concerns to our president. The world fluctuates. Times are bad, and then times get good. And Americans are slowly digging themselves out of failure because it is a cycle not because of the outrageous money ‘input’ no one is actually seeing. You see Obama is putting a band aid on an amputated leg. Debt on debt will not solve the ongoing problem. Thus it will further our losses and create of circle of ‘bad moves.’ This stimulus plan needs to be thrown out the window along with Mr. President Obama and his CHANGE. Respectfully, Mary McAllister
gabby landaeta i dont agree with President Obama. i think that his disishoins in the offic are not good at all. he has no clue as to what he is doing. To me it seems that Obama doesn't quite have his priorities straight anymore. Sometimes it seems like he is more of a celebrity than a president.I think a lot of people initially liked the idea of Obama being president, but now they are seeing just how little he has done with the significant amount of time he has been in office. he keeps on telling everyone that he is going to Save America, But he has not been doing that at all. he keeps making all of these promises and he never sticks to them. to tell you the truth i think that he has not a clue is to what he is doing in the office at all. I think Obama is a lot of talk and not enough action is being taken to solve our economic problems.Obama has spent and taken all of our money to save so few jobs. maybe he should help everyone and not pick and choose with what he is going to do with our money.
I try hard to distance myself from any talk concerning politics, considering I haven’t really done my research to hold my own in any conversation. However, by looking up all the different sites with information on this stimulus package, I can tell that this economic crisis is going to be very difficult to fix. With all the excitement and hype around Obama and his presidency I believe the people who were against him to begin with need more persuasion and action to convince them of all his great plans to cure America from this nasty economic depression. Instead of smooth talking America to get them on his side, Obama needs to step in and actually find ways to add more jobs, and ways to cut back expenses so America doesn’t fall deeper in debt. No more empty promises, Americans need action and a man of his word. It’s going to be hard, but we need to get out of debt.
Although I dont really keep up with what is going on in the government or what Obama plans to do, i do not believe he will be able to fix our broken economy. It is too big of a job for one person to handle and his methods have not proven to be working so far. He needs to stop spending money the government does not have and let the economy work itself out. Until then, since obama does not seem to know just what he is doing, he will not be able to fix any of America's financial problems
Personally, I find it difficult for one person to handle such a problem of epic proportions. Also, I think that is unfair to solely blame and reside all hope in the President since it is not merely him making the decisions. While Congress made the wrong choice of following Obama's plans and bills, it was Obama who created and promoted these dastardly deeds. To increase spending when there is not much money left is not the ideal promotion for a better economy. And, for what benefits are being generated do not out-weigh the cost. So to answer the question more directly, no... President Obama is way off path to create a healthier and more flourishing American economy. -Brandon Evraets Per.4
From what I know I feel like Obama is doing all that he can. I mean he came into a situation with a plan to do his best to help to turn our economy around. There really isn't a quick fix for the huge debt America is in, and I think he is doing all he can. I also think we cant solely blame him for not fixing it because in order for him to do like anything he has to go through congress and all of his advisors so really no one person is to blame for it not being fixed yet. Basically it will probably not be fixed during Obama's presidency, but I think he is doing all he can to help the situation.
I feel that President Obama is not taking the right steps toward fixing our dire economic situation. Although he signed the $862 billion stimulus to help the economy, it hasn't done much in the past year. I understand that it will be extremely difficult to aid our economic situation, but I also feel that Obama hasn't taken enough steps to turn it around. Unemployment is continuing to increase, and this hugely impacts the lives of many American citizens. With our current economy, many states are doing budget cuts that affect everyone. Specifically in our district, budget cuts are threatening to remove arts in schools. Without jobs and programs such as these, our country will have other problems too such as an increase in crime. President Obama made numerous promises to turn the economy around, yet nothing he has attempted to do has made a significant impact. In addition, Obama is trying to fix too many different things in our country such as healthcare, alternative energy, and diplomatic relations. He needs to fulfill the promises that he's made or else our economy will continue to plunder.
I believe that Obama is trying his hardest to fix America's financial woes. Over the past couple of years, the unemployment rate has risen. In the newspaper article, it says "In the next 12 months, there will be a second wave of government spending (...) The country could have a better idea of the program." Obama is trying to make his program bigger and better than before. I think Obama should gather a group of men and women and discuss the main problems in our country. Before they take action, they should look at the pros and cons of the situation. Its time to take some action and get out of this debt. We need to have a better outcome for our country.
Tristan Flattery: I belive Obama is trying his hardest to fix the financal woes of America but the task is bigger then he thought. This reccesion has been one of the worst other then the Great Depression and with the country in so much debt theres not much help available. Also with Obama taking on so many projects at once it can't be easy to try and juggle them all at once. But the givernment spending more money is not going to help the debt. We really need a better outcome for the country or else we may not ever recover from this.
I do not believe we can put all the blame on president Obama for our economic troubles. He was elected into office when the problems were surfacing. It will take years to recover and can not be simply erased by one person. It will take the United States as a whole to overcome these economic hardships.
I think that President Obama has not taken the appropriate steps, in order to fix the financial problems that United States citizens are having. He seems to have more goals than actually plans. For instance, he WANTS to create more jobs, he WANTS to decrease federal taxes and he WANTS to lower interest payments. However, he doesn't really have a set plan, so his stimulus package seems more like him trying to make his country think that he is fixing our financial problems rather than actually following through. In the past year, he has put most of his focus on health care, but he has kind of left the econonomic troubles behind, even though that is currently our main problem. While I understand that he has many issues to take care of, it seems like he spends more time saying that he is going to do things, rather than following through. The facts are that there are many states, like Arizona, that are facing so many financial problems that many funded programs have had to be cut. These issues occur when leaders, such as; Janet Napolitano and Barack Obama spend more time buying and spending money, rather than creating different means to fix financial issues. America's financial problems will continue for many years and the only way to dig ourselves out is to take one step at a time and Obama is the one who will have to create these steps. It's a battle that Americans will always face. Posted by Katy H. at 3:21 PM
I don't know what to think. I hear people hate him. I hear people love him. People blame Bush for the trouble we are in. Others think his is socialist. I really don't know what to think. He surely hasn't made my life any easier or better and I haven't heard anything good about him since he became president.I don't know enough about politics to know if he's a good president or bad presdient. All I have to say is he is better than Bush was.
Meghan Brennan: I think that Obama has not done so well with fixing the financial woes of American, but I don't think that is soley to blame for the problems that are happening in the ecomony. He was thrown into office in the middle of major ecomonic issues. I don't think that he has done a good job with trying to ease peoples suffering or kept his word on all the things that he plans to do. I do think that if the people of America give him time that he will keep good on his promises. We can't expect him to fix things instantly. From listening to the State of the Union address i think that he has a lot of good ideas that will really help people but possible screw others and as long as he keeps slowly putting his plans into action he will fix things. If his plan to create more jobs passes i think that things will begin to get better. Also if they government can come up with a good health care bill. The stupidest thing the government can do though is get rid of firefighter, police, and take away from schools.
I feel that Obama started with good goals to help America. When he became president the economy wasn't at its highest point and he is now trying to bring us up. The economy rises and falls, even though his plans/goals to help us are not moving as quickly as everyone would like it to be. I believe his stimulus will help improve many things like education and many businesses. Also, improve the health reform he is starting from the most needed and working his way up for a better America. At the same time I think that he should stop talking about what he want's to do but get started and show his plans and goals by actions and not words. The stimulus plan he created is great but when will we see them in action? We need a better economy and a president who is willing to do less of the talking and promising and more actions taken place.
Philisha Baird: I believe that President Obama is in deed trying really hard to make the people of america see that he is not all talk and can put his words and thoughts into action.I believe that America under the last president feel so much its going to take more than one day or year to dig ourselves out of the whole we have put our selves in.The stimulus that Obama has talked about has already started to work in helping with unemployment as well as tax cuts and food stamps, etc. And i believe that it will continue to help us in the future as long as we give him time and stop breathing down his neck. One man white or black can only do so much when so many in a nation is not behind him and thinks negative things about him all of the time.
Personally I am not a huge Obama. All Barack Obama has done is spent all the tax payers money on stupid things. For example 0bama spent 862 billion dollars for economic revival plan. Then in the next 12 months he is planning on spending another 300 billion dollars. Here we are forking over billions and billions of dollars on health care when people are still unemployed. People might aruge saying all that money is for people to find jobs, but according to this article all that money had nothing to do with the stimulus and that meant none of it went toward people looking for jobs. I believe he can do a decent job, but he needs to actually start doing sonething instead of all talk. -David Potocki
I do not think Obama is taking the correct steps to fix Americas financial woes, although he is not all to blame. President Obama says he has all of these plans to help fix our future but he has put America into the biggest debt in the history of the United States. He has no thoughts of how to even pay back the national debt that he has created. I feel the way he is trying to fix our country is just making the debt even greater. He is trying to socialize our health care and government which will ultimately lower wages, and higher taxes.
I dont not think Obama is taking the correct steps to fix Americas financial woes. He says he wants to fix all these things with America, but i havent seen any change since he has become president. I honestly dont think he should have ran for president at this time just because the economy is so bad and i dont think he can handle it. America is in the biggest debt we have ever been in and he isnt doing anything to help that.
i dont think obams is doing a good job at fixing the finacial woes . i have not seen any changes since he has been in office. i think the stimulus package did not have an affect on anyone and has not impacted america.i dont think he should have ran for president because he does not keep his promises . the economy is horrible and not good things atre being done to change- mccall lunn
I dont think Obama is taking the correct steps to fixing our financial woes. Reading the article doesn't convince me that Obama is trying as hard as he makes it seem. He talks about all his plans to fix our economy but I dont see any improvement sense he was elected. He wants all of these changes to fix our situations but i haven't heard of any plans. He has been focused on health care so much that he hasn't paid much attention to our economic problem. He wants to create more jobs and lower interest rates but I feel like i have been lied to and dont see any changes. I hope our problem has a solution and quick.
Jisoo Park(period 5) : I personally think Obama's trying too hard to resolve the current financial problems, but none of the actions he took actually happened. For example, he had almost put past two years of his term into health care reform, yet has not passed. Also his plans are not helping financial woe at all. And I believe other step after health care reform is immigration reform, but these are all meaningless and do not relieve the current situation. Therefore I think Obama should do more things that actually supports current financial statue and get out of debt. But overall, I think he is trying really hard to do his way, but the way he does seems less efficient.
I think Obama is taking the appropriate steps to fix our economy. We are in complete debt and the stimulus program is supposed to fix that and I believe it will. So far the program has provided more Medicaid health benefits, unemployment checks, food stamps, tax cuts etc. Although there are some negative effects from this stimulus, I think its supposed to help fix the economy over time and it cant be fixed overnight.
To be honest I don't care or ever pay attention to politics. It doesn't interest me in the least bit. But what I have heard about is that Obama is not doing so well and is taking too much money. I think the whole taking money that we actually need to get out of debt is a bad thing but other things he is doing is good. The whole thing with education is awesome. With more educated citizens more jobs are created and less people who need the health care given to them. I think getting started with anything big and new is going to take some time to get used to, but overall I believe that Obama is taking the right steps to fix America's financial woes.
From the very beginning of the presidential election, my family and I chose not to support Obama because we did not agree with any of his beliefs in general. For Obama's sake, the economy was pretty bad when he came into office. He stepped in at the wrong time and now he is one man taking the wrong steps to fix the problem. When Obama first came up with the plan, it sounded good to fix everything right then and there. A year later, the jobless rate has decreased and the economy has increased, as the article pointed out. What about in 5 years? We are spending all of this money to repair the economy now, but what will happen to the economy in 5 years or even 10. Obama is thinking about how to fix our economic problems now, but I do not believe he is thinking about the future.
i honestly do not follow politics at all, but i do agree with others who do not think obama has helped our economy. to me it seems as if our economy has just gotten worse and he has not done much to fix this trouble we are going thru. the president should make their country a place that everyone wants to live in but im sure majority of people have a hard time aagreeing with that as of right now.
I believe that anyone in Obamas' position would be having a lot of trouble with the deep hole we're in. I mean it's not like we can get out of it with the snap of the fingers. The economy is always going to have it's ups & downs, it just takes time to get through it all. Sure some of his choices have caused some conflicts, but that's something we can't really change now. It has done America some good in it's little ways, but we need to be patient for the rest to come. Jessica Garcia per.2
Logan Folz Obama should be assassinated. He should not be our president. . He is not qualified for it. He doesn't even know what he is acctually doing. He does not think of the future outcomes. Today's woes are out of control. no one person can fix us. Obama has been focused on health care so much that he hasn't paid much attention to our economic problem. I feel like everything is a secret and what happens in the government in with Obama is not the truth we know today.
I think that Obama is doing his best to try to come up with a plan to help the economy right now. And everyone has different ideas on how things should be run, but it's not up to everyone else to lead the country. Obama can't just make decisions without congress either which means if this plan fails its not all his fault. Sometimes trying your hardest is all you can do and i strongly believe that is what president Obama is doing. And to fix the economy later we need to figure out how to fix it at the moment as well. We wouldn't have this problem if people would pay their debts instead of bailing. It's the peoples problem and Obama is just trying to help fix it. I think it is good that he is trying to create jobs as well instead of just giving money away because that wouldn't solve anything. Obama is the president and it is important to try and support what he is trying to do...
Obama's ideas and actions are definitely not taking any steps that are helping our Country. All he's doing is digging a bigger hole for our selves to try and climb out of but will never happen. He said people would stop losing there jobs. Look at the unemployment rate now. It was also good how he wanted all the troops out of Iraq and stop spending extra money we don't have. Instead that back fired and he sent more troops back and still is spending money every day were there. Then all of the taxes get raised when people are losing their jobs and their possession. There is just no stimulus package that would be able to fix every thing every one wants.
Personally, I believe that America is in debt way over our ability to handle. This problem started years before Obama came in to presidency and is so massive that it will take years to solve this financial crisis. Each party is so determined to blame the other and they seem too stubborn to come together and move forward to make positive changes. Obama is surrounded by intelligent people who have been honest about the difficulty of the current financial situation. Yet, I think the problem is even more critical than Obama first belived and he has not followed through with plans he claimed to have. Each day, our country is falling greater behind into debt. Although Obama's stimulous and other ideas seemed ideal, progression is necessary, and it has not been made.
In my personal opinion, I do not think President Obama has done his job as to serving our country. He promised and said a lot of things including to bringing the troops back from the middle east. But that did not happen as he sends more to fight. As for his ability as President to help create more jobs, that has not worked as well. As construction is slowly getting some work to help build bridges and roads, one out of four are out of a job. For his efforts to help build them, a lot of work are lost. Even though people put a lot of blame towards the presidents in the past, it must be a hard job for them such as Bush and Obama. But with the spending of a third of the $862 billion dollars for the stimulus package, it still hurts us Americans. As for my dad, he may loose his job if funding does not go through his business that he works for by a certain date. My personal opinion is for Obama to stop spending money on useless things such as finding water on the moon while we can create work for those who need it.
I believe Barack Obama is taking the initial steps to fix our financial woes, however I do not believe the stimulus is working as well and to the degree that he expected. Sure some jobs have been created from his stimulus package, but how many people have lost they're jobs in the past two years? The president started his term in one of the most difficult situations our country has ever faced financially. However, this is no excuse for the leader of our country to use and he must contnue his efforts. I think that it is still a little too early to be able to see the results of the stimiulus package. This is why I believe that the next 6 months will serve as a huge gaige on whether or not the president's actions will help our financial woes. -Ben Harrison
The United States as a whole should be to blame for the current state of our economy. Although Obama is the president and leader of our country I do not believe he is at fault for the current situation we find oursleves in; however, I also do not beleive he is a hero or is doing his "job" and fufilling his commitments and following through with the claims he has made. I dont think he is approaching the situation correctly in order to fix our financial stress and debt. His stimulus and plan to help releive our economy has done nothing but put us deeper in the hole. Although this was a huge rut to jump into by winning the election, he chose to run for president and made promises and shared plans that arent turning out to be sucessful. I think he needs to rethink out his ideas and come up with something more strategical. I also find it hard to believe that one man will help releive our economy in such a short period of time. I do believe it will take time and much more effort will need to be put forth.
While I do believe Obama is doing his best to fix our economic issues in America, I do think that he took a big risk when pledging to fix the economy. He came in at a difficult time. Our country was well into debt before Obama's arrival into office, and this Stimulus package is not going to work over night. Our economy is getting worse because people are losing jobs, not having enough money to spend; Or people do have enough money, but save it because of their fear of the horrible economy. While saving money is good, it does not stimulate the economy. I think Obama is doing what he can, he has solved specific issues, and at least he is trying. He created a plan that he believed to work, not make anything worse, so I do trust him. The article pointed out that the jobless rate has decreased, but we in Arizona might not be seeing much improvement because our State is in worse condition than many others. Only the future will tell whether or not the Stimulus plan has been working to fix problems both now, and in the future. (Unless we all die in 2012 :P ) It's conservatives versus liberals here, and people need to try and view this situation as objectively as possible rather than subjectively. It's not a competition to see who is right, it's about our economy and our willingness to accept that sometimes we can not rely solely on our government to fix all our problems. We have to step in at some point to vote for things we need, and 2 days ago a bill to help our education system lost by 3,000 votes because it meant more taxes for others. I think if people really care about the things they say they care about, then something positive would happen. Obviously, the stimulus package has not done much yet, and to reiterate what I have said, everything is not going to change drastically over night.
To tell you the truth, I don't really know. In some ways President Obama is going about the wrong ways, but in other ways he is thinking of benefitting America. I am not the right person to make a judgement on the political desicions of the President of The United States. He may not be doing exactly what he promised, but why would he want to make our country any worse than it already is? Who runs for president just to screw up our economy? All I'm trying to say is that his decisions are neither bad nor good. They just aren't really thought out. I would have to say that his economic plans are really just a way to stall for time so that something good will come along and save us all.
In my personal opinion, I do not think Obama is doing a good job at making our economy better. He is handing out money to all these big motor companies to "keep people employed" but yes, in the short term that will keep them employed, but no one is going to buy new cars anyways at this point, so they are just making cars that no one will be buying. He is trying to spend too much money to get the market back to where it needs to be. He has all the support in the world from his dem friends in the house and senate, but still can't seem to get his bills to pass because they do not truly support all of America. I think if he just let the market play out, and stop taxing people so much that make more money, overall people would be happyier and not expect to recieve government aid.
President Obama says he is trying hard to fix problems, and that may be the case. However i feel like alot of kids and some adults dont even know what he is doing. There are no real significant changes. When you pick it into parts and examine what he has done, sure there has been changes, but i think the real question is are his changes significant.
I think that the steps he is taking to try and fix the problems we are facing are in the right direction but not showing much change to the people. The steps he has to take to make these changes will take time and every one criticizing Obama wants to see everything all better now when that cannot happen. People are saying he is not doing anything to help the situation and things are not changing when he had to automatically start his presidency in a giant hole already. Obama has everything working against him right now and i feel that he is doing what is in his power to help things. I think everyone is just being too impacient and if we just wait and let the president do what he is elected to do, over time we will see the change and be satisfied.
From the beginning, I was never an Obama follower. Every one kept saying that he was "so charismatic" and he was going to bring change to washington. First of all, what does charisma have to do with the ability to make decisions and run a social and economic super power like the United States? The only change the new president has brought is a preposterous spending bill and an unfathomable national debt. Sure, his spending did slow the rate of unemployment rates to a mere trickle of increase, but that doesn't compensate for the fact that now those with jobs will have unprecedented taxes on their hard earned pay checks for the rest of their lives. With a little patience, the same economic relief would have come naturally and the repercussions would be miniscule in comparison. As for the race card that he played to win the election, i must simply ask the ignorant people swayed by it to define racism, but that has nothing to do with economics and so I will not elaborate upon it.
With Obama already being president for longer than a year now, and with our economy still down in the dumbs, I do not think Obama is worth all the hype. It is one thing to say you are going to do something, but it is another to actually have the capability to do it. His campaign slogan was "Change" yet we still have a long ways to go to change anything. Though it may be nice that he attempts to reach out to the common man, he simply cannot keep taking money via taxes from those who are more affluent just because they make money.
I think everyone wants to say hes taking the correct choices. Obama might not be the cause of our economic troubles but he is the president and does need to resolve them fairly quickly with the least harm done to the public. I've noticed that he has cut some spending but I dont think in the right areas. He cut spending on Jet aircraft and cancelled the whole man to space project. I would love to say hes taking the right steps but I dont believe he is and it will only take time to find out if he did well or not.

I beleive that obama needs to stimulate the society by actually putting money into it. fake money that just increases our debt does just that, increases our debt. We can't gain wealth like this when we are so far in the hole and digging deeper because he beleives that the only way out is on china. It's unrealistic and best case scenario we'll be suffocated or at very least trapped in a whole which no ladder is big enough to get us out. We have no salvation this way , so i say nuts to that lets put some money back into the government get rid of the ear marks and try to stabalize ourselves instead of throwing money that we dont have at the situation.
- HAMANI :I think Obama is still a human being and that he hsa a long road ahead of him before real change is made. He will help accelerate change for the future but I don' think there will be too many changes by the end of his term. He is very smart and will make good decisions for the country. I think the economy will recover eventually and I think he is doing all that he can.
I dont really know or care much about Obamas efforts on issues. I try and stay away from politics and not let it control my life. But if i had to choose if he as doing a good job i would say that is doing a good job becasue hes looking out for the American people.
Obama is taking the wrong steps to fix our government. He is putting us more and more in debt with his stupid stimulus package. He is trying to push us into a socialist nation, which is wrong because no one is perfect, and government can turn corrupt
Wow where do I start President Obama. All I have to say is the stimulus package was the worst thing to happen. This man from day one promised change, what change!? The only change I have seen come from his sorry excuse as president is an economy that is spiraling downward into the dirt. He has turned a bad economy to one that will be remembered forever. This economy state that we are in as we speak is the worst one yet, the depression doesn’t touch what we are seeing now. Obama's 862 billion dollar stimulus package is garbage and has worsened the economy. In one year this man had been able to spend this amount of money; American tax dollars are just blown and gone. I personally would rather have taken all of that money and burned it then give it to this thief. In my opinion I think he should be impeached and I would rather see Hilary in there then this piece of trash we call Mr. President. lastly I would like to tell everyone that you just a non American citizen spend all of your money and ruin our country, wait could this be a plot that the alkedia placed against the united states? Instead of bombing the U.S. lets send one of our guys to become president and ruin their country. Any ways I am 100 percent against this man trying to fix the economy, just let it fix itself. We as citizens will fix it like we have done before, we don’t need billions of dollars to fix it!
A way that Obama can help get our economy back in good shape is by not spending money we dont have. he's put billions of dollars towards this stimulous package and so far it hasnt done much. But the counter argument could be that it takes money to make money. He also was elected into this mess of an economy and we cant expect him to just poof all our debt away. it takes time and i dont think many people are understanding that.
I HATE OBAMA! okay not really. But I believe that he hasn't done a well enough job that he promised to change our economy. His stimulus package just made it worse, and the government again screwed over its people. I know things don't magically get fixed, and that this will take time, but he promised change and the only change he is giving is for the worse. His first year of being a president was mediocre at best, and the next 3 years probably won't be any better.
I believe that no matter who is running this country it will be in a lower economic state for the up coming years until the economy fixes itself. The history of this country's spending has created the economic mess we are in and no matter who became president and passed bills we would still be in a recession. Do I believe Obama is trying to aid our economy? Yes. Do I believe it is working? Slightly, but like I said before no matter who trys to fix it, the economy will stay low until time and better spending habits occur within the United States.
President Obama has done many things to strive towards in regaining our economy. The so called "Stimulus Package" is something he made up to pull our country through the hard economic times we have encountered the past couple years. Though, it is not helping, i still have respect towards him in a way. President Obama has spent billions of dollars to help the United States but the reality is, it is only making us poorer and deeper in debt. You cannot expect the president to pull the country out of such hard times when he just came into office with all of that on his plate. It is nearly impossible to and people do not seem to register that concept in their brains.
I feel as our president, Obama has perhaps set his goals to high. as well known as it can be, our current economy is perhaps on a solid low stand still with the only known visible "growth" heading south. as stated in various "News" broadcasts, President Obama's first year has already passed us months ago, and yet, quite the hefty list of tasks in which all need much directed attention reside still unfinished, and some, unnoticed despite his promis to have them finished. As our president, i will not condone him for his "promises" seeming as that they are now worth a Nobel Peace prize, but in reguards to his actions that are needed to boost and save our economy, there seems to be a lack off, therefore, to a larger degree, i am dis-satisfied with his adress to the current issue at hand. espicially in the case that many people today within city department jobs are being laid off by the hundreds, and budget cuts drop like axes upon needed school funds as well. however, i do see that he has three years to correct, or at least attempt to fix the current economy, that is after all, his job.
I think Obama is trying to take the right steps to improve America's conditions but last few decades after the Great Depression has made the government very rigid. When Obama tried to change the medical insurance policies, the gvernment did not allow it. Why? Because the government, to a degree, depends on comapnies like these and it's change could go in either directions, as a result of the Government's rigidity, Obama's bill did not pass. I would say that Obama is trying to take the right steps but the government is the one impeding him.
Ok… really? Let us all sit down, throw on our thinking caps, and have a talk here. If you are a democraty person, just shush, but if you are a republican or “conservative” or whatever you want to label yourself listen, it will be fun. Me- “Greatest president ever?” You all- “Ronald (6 letters) Wilson (6 letters) Regan (6 letters…)!!!” Me- “close enough to being true.” Now that we have established that, what makes him so great, other than the fact that he hates big walls, and loves star wars and jelly beans? It’s what we like to call trickle-down economics, or “the policy of providing tax cuts or other benefits to businesses in the belief that this will indirectly benefit the broad population.” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trickle-down_economics) This indirect help comes from the idea that these businesses will provide jobs. The great works of Mr. Regan are often simplified to “He spent lots of money to get it flowing and boost the economy again!” Now what does this stimulus package do? “Janet Napolitano and Barack Obama spend more time buying and spending money,” – Katy H. “But with the spending of a third of the $862 billion dollars for the stimulus package…”- Victoria “He is handing out money to all these big motor companies…” – Andy “with the stimulus money pumped into the economy” - Christine Oh yes… it puts money into the economy. Next up on the list socialism, lets learn what it is… “1 : any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods.” (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/socialism) Obama is not taking control of your production, he is not instituting communal farming communities, he is not giving all of your property to the state (a power that is somewhat granted in the constitution by eminent domain)What he is trying to do is give all of the people who cannot afford healthcare the ability to afford a doctor. On to the spending, Obama supports Educational funding, you know who doesn’t? This stupid district we live in. WE HAVE NO MONEY FOR PAPER! WE CANNOT AFFORD TEACHERS! The devil known as Obama (hmmm 5 letters…) wants to educate the masses! What a jerk! As for promise breaking, you know who else did that? Nixon. Oh… and every other leader in the history of the world. Mr. George Washington promised the French that he would help them with their problems if they aided us in the revolution. The French take up their own revolution and Washington refuses to help, claiming that the deal was made with the former government of France. The real reason? We were poor and weak we could not afford to help. Welcome to politics. And finally Obamas is a president, not a king. He represents America, he does not make the final say, that’s what we have a congress for… we did a whole lesson on it last semester. He does not just do things; it goes to bills and votes, bills for things like more educational spending. These bills are promptly voted down by stupid citizens who don’t want to pay a 10 more dollars a year each to fund their schools.
Ps. statistically speaking Democrats tend to have higher educations than Republicans. PPS. Yay stimulus, yay Obama.
i personaly do not follow obama or care for himas a president. And i belive that americas finacal problems have gotten worse because the government is spending money they do not have. the only good thing obama has done was...well nothing. The stimulus plan is just crap that didn't work and hasn't helped anyone really, if things were getting better then how come jobs are being more scarce. and more people are out of work. in anycase The stimulus bill was a complete bust. -brittany
Barack Obama can't fixed the economy! Obama can't fix the economy because he has yet to disavow the failed free trade policy that is destroying America's working middle class. Barack is a card carrying member of the "ruling class." He is an avowed globalist, his race notwithstanding. Just asked his fellow globalist, John Kerry. As revealed in the South Carolina debate, Sen. Obama signed and approved the free trade agreement with Peru. When one listens to Obama's feeble economic solutions it should remind us of Ronald Reagan's "voodoo economics." I see and judge the Dems thru a working middle class prism. The candidate that moves the farthest away from the failed and destructive free trade policy and closer to a fair trade policy will win the Dems' nomination and the general election. John Edwards has it mostly right but this election it is not about the poor. The election is about the working middle class not becoming poor!To the extent that Sen. Obama remembers that four years ago he was part of the working middle class and offer both short term and long term economic policies that keep the working middle class from becoming poor, then he is no more than John "the globalist" Kerry in black face.
I don't think that the economy can be fixed over a short amount of time so we don't have the right to blame Obama. Just because we don't see change immediately, doesn't mean that something isn't happening; something is happening, slowly. I think that we want results right away, but that can't happen and for that we look for someone to blame and the person in charge is Obama so we blame him. I don't think he has been in office long enough to really do something about it and make a huge change in the economy. I think people got a little over-excited when Obama became president and people thought we were going to have drastic changes right away. That usually doesn't happpen with any president. People just got a little too hyped up when Obama took office.
Obama is not on the right track. More social programs, as he intends on implementing, only places more stress on Americans as a whole. Furthermore, raising taxes on the wealthy also does nothing to repair the economy. Take a small business for example. This small business is on the borderline of being able to expand. This expansion would allow for the hiring of more employees. But, because of the tax-increase, this small business has now lost the ability of expanding. Potential jobs have now been lost. Now, magnify this issue that this one small business had, and include all the other small businesses like it across the nation, and you have one hell of a missed opportunity with all these "Could-have-been jobs" being missed. Sorry Mr. Obama. (PS, this post is past due because for the past few nights I have had no luck in being able to access this site. My sincerest apologies!) -Dave McCutchen
Obama is not doing all that he could for the national debt. He is providing insignificant changes to the nations problems and not doing them any favors by acting like change is occuring. He needs to worry more about what we are really spending our money on and if it is really effecting our economic status. -Courtney Cox
Well President Obama is definitely taking steps. I anticipate that eventually it will be identified as good, but change is always very slow. People are very reluctant to change or to recognize change. We are creatures of habit and want to keep doing the same as we have always done. We are also spoiled and don't want to loose some of the benefits we have enjoyed.
There are probably teachers at our school that would have lost their job if the stimulus money had not been received. Some people have benefited and saved their home by use of the mortgage modification. However, like with any new program, there are lots of rules and limitations to be adhered to such that it is very complicated to qualify. Lots of people have lost their homes, but at least some have benefited. Road improvements are under way.
The unfortunate part is that Americans will be repaying this debt for a long time to come. The stimulus package is costing so much, how will we ever repay it? But without it, there would have been higher unemployment, more homes lost, and less teachers. We are in very difficult times, a recession, and things will not be easy and road blocks will have to be overcome before things return to . . . what? They won't go back to the way they were. Just something different we will learn to cope with. At least President Obama is trying. We definitely needed someone who would try something, anything, because it could not have stayed the way it was.
ReplyDeleteI feel that President Obama’s steep claims that his stimulus will improve education, provide relief to the unemployed, and create lasting projects are being absolutely disproven by the reality of national conditions.
ReplyDeleteI feel that President Obama is doing his best to actually to fix various issues that we are dealing with today.
ReplyDeletePresident Obama is most definitely not in full blame for our weak economy and our poor financial problems.
ReplyDeleteI think that President Obama has done a decent job so far in his presidency.
ReplyDeletePresident Obama in my opinion cannot be to blame for the mistakes us as a country have made.
ReplyDeleteThe American way of life got us into this mess.
ReplyDeleteNo I do not think Obama is doing a good job at fixing America's financial woes.

ReplyDeleteNo i do not think oboma is taking the correct steps to fix our economic system at this moment. i believe that he is simply trying to patch over the problems that we are having instead of going straight to the root of the problem. granted that i really dont know exactly how i would go about fixing that problem but it seems to me that all this money is going toward is trying to reassure the people and fix their opinions on the subject rather than fix the econimic problemitself. I think that obama may have taken too much of the situation into his hands rather than taking our problems and solvong them on at a time! only time can tell though.

ReplyDeleteI believe that America has already dug itself into a whole that is going to be difficult to get out of.
ReplyDeleteI think that President Obama has not done a decent job in helping our economy.
ReplyDeleteSince the election, Obama has not been a guy that I would follow.

ReplyDeleteI believe Obama has good intentions, but has made mediocre improvements to our country, which obviously needs a lot of help.
ReplyDeleteI feel that Obama initially started out trying to do everything in his power to fix the current problems of our nation.

ReplyDeleteI believe that this econmaic crisis will be hard to fix.

ReplyDeletei dont agree with President Obama. i think that his disishoins in the offic are not good at all. he has no clue as to what he is doing.

ReplyDeleteAlthough I dont really keep up with what is going on in the government or what Obama plans to do, i do not believe he will be able to fix our broken economy.
ReplyDelete-Brandon Evraets Per.4
From what I know I feel like Obama is doing all that he can. I mean he came into a situation with a plan to do his best to help to turn our economy around. There really isn't a quick fix for the huge debt America is in, and I think he is doing all he can. I also think we cant solely blame him for not fixing it because in order for him to do like anything he has to go through congress and all of his advisors so really no one person is to blame for it not being fixed yet. Basically it will probably not be fixed during Obama's presidency, but I think he is doing all he can to help the situation.
ReplyDeleteI feel that President Obama is not taking the right steps toward fixing our dire economic situation.
ReplyDeleteI believe that Obama is trying his hardest to fix America's financial woes.
ReplyDeleteTristan Flattery:
ReplyDeleteI belive Obama is trying his hardest to fix the financal woes of America but the task is bigger then he thought.
ReplyDeleteI think that President Obama has not taken the appropriate steps, in order to fix the financial problems that United States citizens are having.

ReplyDeleteMeghan Brennan:
ReplyDeleteI think that Obama has not done so well with fixing the financial woes of American, but I don't think that is soley to blame for the problems that are happening in the ecomony.

ReplyDeleteI feel that Obama started with good goals to help America.
Philisha Baird:
ReplyDeleteI believe that President Obama is in deed trying really hard to make the people of america see that he is not all talk and can put his words and thoughts into action.I believe that America under the last president feel so much its going to take more than one day or year to dig ourselves out of the whole we have put our selves in.The stimulus that Obama has talked about has already started to work in helping with unemployment as well as tax cuts and food stamps, etc. And i believe that it will continue to help us in the future as long as we give him time and stop breathing down his neck. One man white or black can only do so much when so many in a nation is not behind him and thinks negative things about him all of the time.
DAVID POTOCKI
ReplyDeletePersonally I am not a huge Obama.

ReplyDeleteI dont not think Obama is taking the correct steps to fix Americas financial woes.

ReplyDeleteI dont think Obama is taking the correct steps to fixing our financial woes.
ReplyDeleteJisoo Park(period 5) : I personally think Obama's trying too hard to resolve the current financial problems, but none of the actions he took actually happened.
ReplyDeleteI think Obama is taking the appropriate steps to fix our economy.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest I don't care or ever pay attention to politics.
ReplyDeleteFrom the very beginning of the presidential election, my family and I chose not to support Obama because we did not agree with any of his beliefs in general.
ReplyDeletei honestly do not follow politics at all, but i do agree with others who do not think obama has helped our economy. to me it seems as if our economy has just gotten worse and he has not done much to fix this trouble we are going thru. the president should make their country a place that everyone wants to live in but im sure majority of people have a hard time aagreeing with that as of right now.
ReplyDeleteI believe that anyone in Obamas' position would be having a lot of trouble with the deep hole we're in.

ReplyDeleteObama should be assassinated.
ReplyDeleteObama's ideas and actions are definitely not taking any steps that are helping our Country.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I believe that America is in debt way over our ability to handle.
ReplyDeleteIn my personal opinion, I do not think President Obama has done his job as to serving our country.
ReplyDelete-Victoria Phillips
ReplyDelete-Ben Harrison
ReplyDeleteWhile I do believe Obama is doing his best to fix our economic issues in America, I do think that he took a big risk when pledging to fix the economy.
ReplyDeleteBrad Buffington:
ReplyDeleteTo tell you the truth, I don't really know.

ReplyDeleteI think that the steps he is taking to try and fix the problems we are facing are in the right direction but not showing much change to the people.

ReplyDeleteFrom the beginning, I was never an Obama follower.
ReplyDeleteI think everyone wants to say hes taking the correct choices.

He will help accelerate change for the future but I don' think there will be too many changes by the end of his term. He is very smart and will make good decisions for the country. I think the economy will recover eventually and I think he is doing all that he can.

ReplyDeleteObama is taking the wrong steps to fix our government.
ReplyDeleteA way that Obama can help get our economy back in good shape is by not spending money we dont have. he's put billions of dollars towards this stimulous package and so far it hasnt done much.

ReplyDeleteI believe that no matter who is running this country it will be in a lower economic state for the up coming years until the economy fixes itself.
ReplyDeletePresident Obama has done many things to strive towards in regaining our economy.

ReplyDeleteMe- “Greatest president ever?”
You all- “Ronald (6 letters) Wilson (6 letters) Regan (6 letters…)!!!”
Me- “close enough to being true.”
Now that we have established that, what makes him so great, other than the fact that he hates big walls, and loves star wars and jelly beans? It’s what we like to call trickle-down economics, or “the policy of providing tax cuts or other benefits to businesses in the belief that this will indirectly benefit the broad population.” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trickle-down_economics) This indirect help comes from the idea that these businesses will provide jobs. The great works of Mr. Regan are often simplified to “He spent lots of money to get it flowing and boost the economy again!”
Now what does this stimulus package do?
“Janet Napolitano and Barack Obama spend more time buying and spending money,” – Katy H.
“But with the spending of a third of the $862 billion dollars for the stimulus package…”- Victoria
“He is handing out money to all these big motor companies…” – Andy
“with the stimulus money pumped into the economy” - Christine
Oh yes… it puts money into the economy.
ReplyDeleteAnd i belive that americas finacal problems have gotten worse because the government is spending money they do not have. the only good thing obama has done was...well nothing. The stimulus plan is just crap that didn't work and hasn't helped anyone really, if things were getting better then how come jobs are being more scarce. and more people are out of work. in anycase The stimulus bill was a complete bust.

ReplyDeleteI don't think that the economy can be fixed over a short amount of time so we don't have the right to blame Obama.
ReplyDeleteObama is not on the right track. Sorry Mr. Obama.

Obama is not doing all that he could for the national debt. He is providing insignificant changes to the nations problems and not doing them any favors by acting like change is occuring. He needs to worry more about what we are really spending our money on and if it is really effecting our economic status.
ReplyDelete-Courtney Cox
Well President Obama is definitely taking steps. I anticipate that eventually it will be identified as good, but change is always very slow. People are very reluctant to change or to recognize change. We are creatures of habit and want to keep doing the same as we have always done. We are also spoiled and don't want to loose some of the benefits we have enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteThere are probably teachers at our school that would have lost their job if the stimulus money had not been received.
